DESCRIPTION OF WORK

 

In this position, you will serve as a key advisor, offering expert guidance on a wide range of projects involving building modifications, site planning, and operational efficiency. You will collaborate closely with vendors, professionals from the Department of General Services (DGS), private sector firms, and the Governor’s Office to help shape strategic decisions. Your responsibilities will include overseeing major projects in partnership with DGS, as well as sharing critical information with external stakeholders on security protocols, design standards, and facility specifications. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring that all designs meet budgetary requirements and align with Department of Corrections policies.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week after the initial 6-month training period. During the training period, you must report in-office to 1920 Technology Parkway, Mechanicsburg. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Mechanicsburg. Telework agreements are subject to change.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
  • Work location: DOC Central Office located at 1920 Technology Parkway in Mechanicsburg, PA.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as an Architectural Designer 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Three years of professional architectural experience in building renovation or preservation and new construction for commercial, institutional, government, or educational buildings or structures, and a bachelor's degree in architecture, architectural engineering, or a closely related field which included major course work in architectural design; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

 

Special Requirement:

  • This position requires active licensure as a registered architect by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or a reciprocal jurisdiction; or an active certification as issued by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB).

 

Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
