DESCRIPTION OF WORK

 

This position supports engineering projects that improve dams, access areas, water systems, and other facilities managed by the Commission. As a Civil Engineer Consultant (Hydraulic), you will perform the following duties:

  • Engineering Review: Prepare and evaluate advanced engineering studies, investigations, and designs for hydraulic and structural projects
  • Dam Inspection: Inspect agency owned dams and develop maintenance and rehabilitation plans for safe operation
  • Project Support: Contribute to planning, permitting, design, and construction oversight for water control and flood protection projects
  • Technical Analysis: Perform hydraulic and structural calculations for spillways, pumping stations, and control structures
  • Facility Improvement: Provide cost effective engineering solutions for dams, hatcheries, marinas, access areas, roads, and water systems
  • Access Oversight: Manage technical inspections and rehabilitation planning for public fishing and boating access areas

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Work schedule may be negotiable. Work may required outside of scheduled hours for emergencies. 
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time (50%). Telework schedule may vary based on workload and season. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Bellefonte. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four years of professional civil engineering experience which includes three years in the appropriate specialty.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.

Conditions of Employment:

  • This position requires possession of a valid driver’s license.
