NTM Engineering, Inc. is a civil engineering and environmental services firm that specializes in water resources design and permitting, environmental services, bridge and roadway design and bridge inspection, and engineering instruction for public and private sector clients. Description of Work:

The Discipline Director provides leadership, technical oversight, and strategic direction within the organization. This position is responsible for ensuring the quality, profitability, growth, and overall performance of the discipline while supporting company-wide objectives. The Environmental Director serves as a technical resource to staff across all offices, oversees quality assurance and quality control initiatives, drives business development activities, and manages complex projects and client relationships.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the growth and strategic direction of the Environmental Division through business development, client engagement, and market expansion.
  • Oversee quality assurance and quality control standards to ensure technical excellence and consistent project delivery.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for staff.
  • Manage complex projects, including scope, budget, schedule, client coordination, and overall execution.
  • Collaborate with operational and marketing leadership to achieve business and performance goals.
  • Support staffing, resource planning, and workload management across the discipline.
  • Advise executive leadership on industry trends, technical matters, and strategic opportunities.

The position requires frequent interaction with clients, regulatory agencies, consultants, industry organizations, and internal stakeholders.

Minimum Training and Experience Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, or a related field from an accredited institution; advanced degree preferred.
  • Twenty (20)+ years of progressively responsible experience in environmental consulting, engineering, regulatory compliance, or a related technical discipline.
  • Proven leadership experience overseeing environmental operations, staff development, strategic planning, and organizational growth.
  • Demonstrated success in project delivery, client relationship management, business development, and revenue generation.
  • Required professional certifications relevant to environmental practice and leadership.
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting, compliance requirements, engineering principles, and industry best practices.
  • Strong track record of managing multiple projects, operational priorities, budgets, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills, with the ability to build consensus among clients, regulators, staff, and executive leadership.
  • Active participation and leadership within professional organizations and industry associations.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a collaborative, client-focused, and high-performance culture.
  • Ability to travel as needed to support clients, projects, business development initiatives, and industry engagement.
